Q: It is reported that the Law of the Sea of Viet Nam will come into effect on January 1, 2013. What is China's comment?

A: China has indisputable sovereignty over Xisha Islands, Nansha Islands and their adjacent waters. Any other country's territorial sovereignty claims and actions over these islands are illegal and invalid. We are deeply concerned about this law's negative impact on the situation of the South China Sea once it comes into effect. We require the Vietnamese side to call off actions that would complicate and aggravate this issue.
